BJP's C. R. Kesavan Responds to Rahul Gandhi's Criticism of Modi Government
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 22 (NationPress) BJP spokesperson C. R. Kesavan expressed strong disapproval regarding the comments made by the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, who claimed that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi lacks a clear direction and strategy.
Gandhi, in a post shared on X on Saturday, suggested that the ongoing conflict in West Asia will lead to increased fuel prices and a rise in the costs of everyday goods, including those related to production and transportation. He further stated that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the stock market would also face adverse impacts.
He remarked, "The rupee is depreciating against the dollar and approaching the 100 mark, alongside a significant increase in industrial fuel costs. These figures are not mere statistics; they are clear indicators of impending inflation. The Modi government exhibits neither direction nor strategy; it merely engages in rhetoric. The real concern is not what the government claims but what is left on your plate," he wrote.
In retaliation, Kesavan accused Gandhi of displaying a "stark ignorance of global geopolitics."
"The citizens of India have unwavering confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proven leadership. That is why Rahul Gandhi's continuous campaign of misinformation and propaganda regarding LPG shortages, inflation, and fuel price surges has found no audience. The faith in PM Modi is the reason behind Rahul Gandhi's futile attempts to incite panic among the populace," Kesavan stated to IANS.
While commending Prime Minister Modi, he noted: "PM Modi is recognized globally as a statesman commanding respect from international leaders. He has successfully engaged with leaders from both Tel Aviv and Tehran. He is working diligently to ensure India's energy security, safeguard the well-being of our diaspora in conflict zones, and protect India's critical strategic interests."
Supporting Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's recent comments on India's position regarding the West Asia conflict, Kesavan added, "They should first reflect on why senior Congress figures are commending Prime Minister Modi's foreign policy. Shashi Tharoor explicitly stated that PM Modi's approach during this conflict exemplifies 'responsible statecraft.' This highlights the discord within the Congress party and its leadership."
Tharoor had described India's stance on the conflict as a model of 'responsible statecraft' rather than a 'moral surrender.'
Kesavan concluded, "Rahul Gandhi's reckless posturing is counterproductive and harmful to India's national interests."
