Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, the two accused in the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal in Pune, were questioned together on 25 June — made to sit facing each other — as investigators sought to identify contradictions in their accounts, officials said. The two have been remanded to seven-day police custody and were interrogated until late into the previous night.

Key Developments in the Investigation

What was initially recorded as an accidental death has since been reclassified as an alleged murder, reportedly planned by Goyal and Chaudhary, who are accused of conspiring to kill Agarwal. Pune police have also reportedly detained Neeraj Kumar, an employee at Chaudhary's shop, for questioning over his alleged links to the case.

According to police sources, Chaudhary had taken Kumar's phone on 18 June — the day of the crime — to Lohagad Fort. Investigators suspect Chaudhary may have used this device to contact Goyal multiple times on that day. Kumar had reportedly been working with Chaudhary for the past three years.

Background: A Wedding Planned, a Conspiracy Alleged

Ketan Agarwal, son of a prominent businessman from Maharashtra, had become engaged to Siya Goyal in February. Their families were reportedly preparing for a lavish wedding scheduled for November, said to involve private jets and palace venues.

However, investigators now allege that while these preparations were underway, Goyal had already entered into a romantic relationship with Chaudhary after meeting him at a business event in 2025. Goyal operated a bakery business; Chaudhary was involved in the dry fruit trade. According to police, Chaudhary viewed Agarwal as an obstacle to his relationship with Goyal, and the two allegedly conspired to eliminate him.

Chaudhary's Family Claims Innocence

Chaudhary's father, Babulal Chaudhary, a grocery shop owner, came out in support of his son on Wednesday, alleging that he had been 'falsely framed' by co-accused Goyal. 'We have never seen the girl in question and know absolutely nothing about her. In fact, I only found out about her name, Siya, yesterday... I have never seen her before. I saw her for the first time at the police station,' he told reporters.

An earlier statement from the accused's relative, Udaram Chaudhary, echoed the same position. 'As far as we know, Chetan is not involved in this matter at all; he is completely innocent. We don't know who Siya is; we got to know her name only from the media,' he said.

Victim's Father Seeks Swift Justice

The victim's father, Vishal Agarwal, said on Wednesday that he has complete faith in the judiciary and expects the guilty to be punished. 'I have complete faith in the justice system... whoever is involved in this, Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary and others, they should be punished severely and as soon as possible so that my child's soul can be at peace,' he said.

As the investigation widens, police are expected to scrutinise phone records, movement logs, and financial links between the accused. The case has drawn significant attention given the high-profile nature of the victim's family and the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy.
