Jaipur, April 28 (NationPress) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed his discontent regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's absence from the all-party meeting addressing the Pahalgam terror attack. He remarked that the Prime Minister seems preoccupied with election events nationwide.
"It is regrettable for our nation that while Pahalgam faced a direct assault on its dignity, the Prime Minister was engaged in an election address in Bihar. Leaders from all parties came together for the meeting, yet it is disheartening to note that PM Modi did not attend. Was Bihar so distant? He ought to have participated, shared his strategies, and guided us on how we could contribute," Kharge stated during the Congress' 'Samvidhan Bachao Rally' at Ramlila Maidan in Jaipur.
The rally included notable Congress figures, such as former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, and Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra, who welcomed Kharge at the Jaipur airport.
Kharge took a jab at PM Modi's leadership, stating, "You flaunt a 56-inch chest, but when leadership was required, you chose to skip an all-party meeting. We, as leaders from various parties, convened, yet your absence reflected a lack of concern. This is the attitude of our Prime Minister."
On the topics of inflation and unemployment, Kharge placed the blame squarely on PM Modi, asserting, "Today, all significant welfare initiatives are a result of Congress efforts. What has PM Modi provided? Merely rising prices and lack of jobs. Despite grand promises, he has delivered little. His 56-inch chest has deflated under the burden of unkept pledges."
Addressing the perceived bias against Dalits and Backward Classes, Kharge remarked, "Our Opposition Leader Tika Ram Jully visited a temple, and soon after, a BJP leader washed it with 'Gangajal'. Where is the talk of Hindu unity now? Before elections, Amit Shah and his associates dine in Dalit homes, yet the truth is they deny Dalits basic rights like drinking water from community ponds or touching the idols they craft. They are attempting to suppress Dalits and backward classes, but they will not yield."
Kharge underscored the significance of the Constitution and Ambedkar, emphasizing, "Thanks to Ambedkar's Constitution, a tea seller can ascend to the Prime Minister’s position, and a mill worker's child like me can assume the role of Leader of Opposition. The survival of the Constitution is synonymous with the survival of democracy."
He also criticized Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks about B.R. Ambedkar, asserting, "Home Minister Shah suggested that if we invoked God as frequently as we do Ambedkar, we would achieve salvation. Such animosity towards Baba Saheb reflects their mindset. Ultimately, it’s for Yamraj to decide their fate in the afterlife."
Enumerating what he termed PM Modi's '12 lies', Kharge stated, "PM Modi pledged to recover black money in 100 days, deposit ₹15 lakh in every citizen's bank account, generate two crore jobs annually, reduce petrol and diesel prices, cleanse the Ganga by 2022, double farmers' income, provide housing for all by 2022, ensure MSP for farmers, manage inflation, and establish factories under 'Make in India'. Where are those commitments now? None have been fulfilled. PM Modi even asserted a ₹1.25 lakh crore package for Bihar – did Bihar receive it?"
He further ridiculed the Prime Minister, saying, "We can't even start our day without seeing PM Modi on our television screens. It's akin to watching Amitabh Bachchan in an advertisement. The role of the Prime Minister requires a statesman's dignity, yet it has devolved into mere propaganda."
In closing, Kharge reaffirmed his beliefs, stating, "I am also a Hindu. My name, Mallikarjun, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. We stand for unity and equality, not the divisive politics of PM Modi and Amit Shah."
Following the rally, the Congress President plans to conduct three private meetings with party leaders from Rajasthan to assess organizational matters and provide new directives.
