Bengaluru, Oct 3 (NationPress) AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has been successfully discharged from a Bengaluru hospital following a pacemaker implantation procedure, according to a statement released by the Indian National Congress on Facebook.
The announcement made on Thursday read, "Honourable Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji has been discharged from the hospital this evening. He is recovering well and wishes to express his gratitude for all the good wishes received."
"He looks forward to resuming his responsibilities shortly as per medical advice. We appreciate everyone's support and well-wishes," the Indian National Congress added.
Kharge was admitted to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital after experiencing fatigue and breathing difficulties following a rigorous campaign in Bihar.
He has been actively participating in the Bihar election campaign.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally spoke with Kharge after his successful surgery, wishing him a swift recovery.
In a post on X, PM Modi mentioned, "Spoke to Kharge Ji. Enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. Praying for his continued well-being and long life."
Kharge underwent a scheduled pacemaker implantation at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday, with confirmation from his family that he would return to work today.
Karnataka RDPR, IT, and BT Minister Priyank Kharge, who is also Kharge's son, released a media statement regarding the situation.
On social media X, Priyank Kharge stated, "The pacemaker implantation was a brief and minor procedure, and he has been stable since."
"He is expected to resume work from October 3 and participate in all his scheduled engagements. We are grateful for the concern, support, and affection shown by everyone," the minister added.
The Congress president was advised to have the procedure due to symptoms like fever, fatigue, and leg pain.
Kharge received treatment at MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the Congress leader at the hospital, checking on Kharge's health and extending wishes for a quick recovery.
