Bengaluru, Oct 1 (NationPress) - Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was admitted to a private facility in Bengaluru on Tuesday for a scheduled pacemaker implantation procedure, as confirmed by his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday.
Priyank Kharge, who serves as the Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, as well as IT/BT, stated that the Congress leader was advised to undergo this procedure due to symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and leg pain.
Mallikarjun Kharge is currently receiving care at MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru.
“Mallikarjun Kharge has been advised to have a pacemaker implanted and is in the hospital for this planned procedure. He is stable and recuperating well. We sincerely appreciate your concern and well-wishes,” said Priyank Kharge.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the Congress chief at the hospital, checking on Kharge’s health and wishing him a swift recovery.
After meeting with Kharge, Siddaramaiah informed the media that Kharge had come in for a routine check-up due to some minor discomfort.
“He is doing well and is likely to be discharged tomorrow,” the Chief Minister noted.
Siddaramaiah added that Kharge was communicative and in good spirits, having visited the hospital for a standard health assessment.
According to hospital sources, Kharge is under observation, his condition is stable, and he is expected to be discharged shortly.
The Congress President is slated to visit Nagaland on October 7 to address a rally at Naga Solidarity Park.
In September of the previous year, Kharge required hospitalization in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir after his health declined during a rally.
While speaking in Kathua, he experienced shortness of breath and nearly fainted on stage, necessitating assistance from a Congress worker.
Following this incident, he humorously remarked about the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing his determination to remain alive until Prime Minister Modi is out of office.
Interestingly, Prime Minister Modi personally called Kharge while he was hospitalized to check on his health and wished him a quick recovery.
