Khushbu Sundar Labels DMK-led Tamil Nadu Government as Authoritarian

Chennai, Jan 4 (NationPress) BJP leader and former actress Khushbu Sundar has openly condemned the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, deeming it authoritarian instead of democratic.

While addressing the media at the Chennai airport on Friday, she claimed that the Tamil Nadu government has shown partiality in granting permission for political gatherings.

Khushbu accused the DMK administration of allowing a rally organized by MDMK leader Vaiko while refusing permission for a protest march by the BJP.

She stated, “I will raise my voice whenever women are impacted. I won't wait for a miracle like Ghajini to take action. Having been part of the DMK, I understand their modus operandi. I will not stay silent; I will speak out.”

The actor-turned-politician underscored the necessity of women's safety over financial incentives, saying, “Money is not the most crucial aspect for women—safety is. The ruling party, DMK, bears the responsibility of safeguarding women's dignity, modesty, and safety. Women cannot be silenced with money.”

Khushbu called on the government to prioritize women’s safety, urging women to speak out and criticizing DMK's governance for its ineffectiveness.

She challenged the government’s habit of comparing Tamil Nadu with other states, asserting that the southern state is a vital and integral part of India.

Khushbu also took issue with the politicization of sexual assault cases, noting the inaction from DMK leaders regarding similar incidents in other states.

She questioned, “Why politicize sexual assault cases against women? When a similar incident occurred in Chhattisgarh, did Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin or Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin raise their voices? Did Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi come to Tamil Nadu to protest when a similar incident occurred here? No, they did nothing.”

She emphasized that violence against women should not be politicized and urged those in power to focus on ensuring safety instead of making comparisons with other states.

As a Tamil Nadu native, Khushbu reaffirmed her dedication to addressing the state's challenges, stating, “It’s not about BJP, DMK, or AIADMK—it’s about securing safety for women.”

She further criticized the DMK government for being excessively reactive to the BJP's actions, stating, “The DMK government is engaging in politics by constantly monitoring what the BJP does. Stalin claims we are playing politics, but what else can we do? When you get hurt, it’s blood; but when we get hurt, it’s merely tomato sauce?”

The BJP leader concluded by asserting her commitment to continue speaking out about the governance of Tamil Nadu and issues regarding women’s safety.
