Kiren Rijiju Celebrates the Indian Constitution's Inclusivity and Beauty

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju participated in a debate regarding the Constitution in the Lok Sabha on Friday, expressing admiration for the inclusive nature of the Constitution. He noted that the measures and protections afforded to minorities, including Muslims, are uncommon worldwide, thereby making India a favored destination for those seeking refuge.

Rijiju commenced his address on the 'Discussion on 75 years of the Glorious Journey of the Constitution' by paying tribute to the drafting committee and other leaders instrumental in its creation.

Emphasizing the progressive and inclusive essence of the Constitution, Rijiju highlighted its pivotal role in fostering unity across the nation.

He referred to the Indian Constitution as the 'longest and most beautiful', commending its provisions for equality, freedom, and minority rights.

Rijiju specifically mentioned Articles 15, 16, 25, 29, and 30, which underscore the principles of equality, freedom of religion, and the safeguarding of linguistic and cultural minorities.

He also acknowledged various laws that protect minority rights, such as the Indian Christian Marriage Act, Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Act, Dargah Khwaja Saheb Act, Anand Marriage Act, and Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act.

According to Rijiju, such protections are rare on a global scale, demonstrating India's commitment to the welfare of minorities.

He asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is advancing the spirit of the Constitution with the motto 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayaas' to realize the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.

Referencing a global survey conducted by the Centre for Policy Analysis in the European Union, Rijiju contrasted India's treatment of minorities with that of countries such as France, Spain, and Indonesia.

He remarked, 'Minorities from neighboring countries seek refuge here due to the superior treatment they receive in India.'

Rijiju also urged caution in public discourse, emphasizing the importance of maintaining India's positive global image.

He stated, 'We must reflect on how our words resonate on the international stage.'

Reflecting on the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Rijiju clarified misconceptions about his intentions, explaining that Ambedkar's struggle was against societal inequalities, not Hindus.

He highlighted the differences between Ambedkar and Pandit Nehru regarding reservations, quoting Ambedkar's discontent with Nehru's approach.

Rijiju explained, 'Dr. Ambedkar advocated for reservations to dismantle caste hierarchies, whereas Nehru viewed it as a temporary measure for integration.'

Criticizing Congress, Rijiju remarked, 'It is due to PM Modi that we are now celebrating Constitution Day. Did they not remember the Constitution for so many years? When this idea was put forth, one of their party leaders questioned the necessity of observing Constitution Day when we already celebrate Republic Day?'

He noted that while several Congress leaders received the Bharat Ratna, they failed to recognize Baba Saheb Ambedkar with the same honor.

Rijiju stated, 'You will have to answer to the public.'

The BJP MP also criticized previous Congress administrations for India's economic stagnation, questioning their dedication to development.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance, stating, 'Since PM Modi's administration began, he has promoted the essence of the Constitution with the mantra 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayaas.' We take pride in the fact that our President is a tribal woman.'

He added, 'If this spirit was absent, I wouldn’t be standing here today.'

Rijiju reflected on the transformations in his region since PM Modi's tenure, noting that roads for cars were only developed during this period.

He expressed, 'I come from a region where I witnessed airplanes before cars.' This highlights the developmental progress in the area under Modi's government.

He concluded by questioning, 'Why couldn't India achieve a Viksit Bharat after so many years of Independence?'
