New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) As the country celebrates Kisan Diwas to pay tribute to the 'Annadatas' (providers of food) and their vital role in the nation's economy, this occasion also emphasizes the need for a renewed focus on natural farming and the adoption of modern agricultural practices.
According to Modi Story, a well-known social media account on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed significant importance on reducing fertilizer-dependent farming in favor of traditional natural farming techniques.
A video shared by this account features farmer Krishan Kumar, who reminisces about a gathering of over a dozen pulse farmers with PM Modi. They discussed their farming methods and the obstacles they encounter. PM Modi dedicated more than 30 minutes to conversing about various facets of natural farming with them directly in the fields and urged them to adopt organic farming practices for healthier, more nutritious yields.
During the launch of the Dhan-Dhanya Yojana and the Mission for 'Aatmanirbharta' (self-reliance) in pulse cultivation, farmers involved in this sector were invited to engage with PM Modi.
Krishan Kumar was one of the 15 farmers who had the chance to meet and discuss pulse farming with PM Modi.
When responding to PM Modi's inquiry, Kumar shared how natural farming has positively impacted his land and that of his fellow villagers.
He recounted PM Modi's assertion that India should strive for 'Aatmanirbhar' in pulse production while minimizing or completely eliminating chemical use.
PM Modi also provided advice to hesitant farmers on transitioning to organic farming.
"Begin by practicing natural farming on a small plot of land to see the results, and gradually scale up until the entire farm is converted to these methods," he recalled.
It is noteworthy that the Modi administration has initiated numerous farmer-focused programs over the last decade, including PM Fasal Bima Yojana, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the recent PM-Dhan Dhanya Yojana.
Krishan Kumar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for ensuring the dignity and safety of farmers while also boosting their confidence.
"When farmers are empowered, the entire nation becomes more robust," he stated.
Additionally, Kisan Diwas is observed in remembrance of the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, India's fifth Prime Minister and a lifelong advocate for farmers' rights.
