Kochi, Jan 24 (NationPress) Two significant personalities in the Malayalam film sector -- writer and director B. Unnikrishnan and producer Anto Joseph -- are now facing investigation after the Kochi Police initiated a case based on a complaint lodged by actress and producer Sandra Thomas.

Thomas has alleged that the pair threatened her. She claims that after providing testimony to the Hema Committee, formed to probe misconduct within the Malayalam film industry, she was intentionally marginalized in the industry.

The actress asserted that her statement before the committee prompted retaliatory moves from these two influential film figures.

In response to her complaint, the local court instructed the Kochi Police to file a case and commence an investigation.

“Ever since I gave my testimony before the Hema Committee, Unnikrishnan has been acting out of spite towards me. Having been a part of the film world since I was 23, I had no option but to take this step to protect my career,” Thomas remarked.

Unnikrishnan, who also holds the position of president of FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala), an organization that represents various film industry professionals from light boys to directors, refuted the claims.

“I feel she has misconstrued my actions. I have always approached her concerns with understanding. Now that a case has been filed, I will pursue legal avenues and act accordingly,” Unnikrishnan stated.

Sandra Thomas, recognized for her performances in films such as ‘Amen’ and ‘Zachariayude Garbhinikal’, has also produced noteworthy films like ‘Philip’s and The Monkey Pen’.

She has been outspoken regarding challenges in the Malayalam film sector and has previously clashed with industry organizations, asserting that FEFKA functions as a subordinate of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA).

Thomas’s career has been marked by controversy. She previously attracted attention due to her fallout with ex-business partner Vijay Babu, with whom she co-founded Friday Film House. Following their split, Thomas launched her own production company, Sandra Thomas Productions.
