Kolkata, Aug 10 (NationPress) The Meteorological (MeT) office has projected additional rainfall across the districts of South Bengal later this week, as there is a potential formation of another depression in the Bay of Bengal.
The weather in Kolkata has been predominantly clear since Sunday morning. However, light rain may occur in the city and its nearby areas later today and on Monday. In contrast, heavy rainfall is anticipated to persist in the northern districts of Bengal.
"The weather in Kolkata has settled, and rain is unlikely until Monday. Nonetheless, the discomfort level is rising due to elevated humidity. Although the maximum temperature remains within a normal range, discomfort will be prevalent throughout the day. A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to evolve into a depression later this week, potentially leading to heavy rainfall in South Bengal by Wednesday," stated a MeT department representative.
In the meantime, heavy rain is forecasted for several locations in the northern districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar on Sunday. Light to moderate rain with thundershowers is likely in other regions.
