Bhopal, Oct 17 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government's proposal to introduce new regulations aimed at limiting RSS programs on government properties. He asserted that the Congress leaders are advocating for this ban merely to appease certain individuals.
Parmar pointed out that the Congress had previously attempted to ban the RSS during Mahatma Gandhi's assassination and again during Indira Gandhi's tenure; hence, they are fully aware of the consequences such actions might provoke.
"Even during the time of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, the Congress tried to impose a ban on the RSS, but it did not dissolve the organization. Nehru stated he would dismantle it, yet it endured. Later, during the Emergency, Indira Gandhi imprisoned RSS members, but the organization continued to exist. The Karnataka government's initiative will not be successful," Parmar informed IANS.
He emphasized that the RSS is a social organization committed to serving the nation, and prohibiting it from participating in government programs would be a grave mistake.
Reports indicate that the Karnataka government intends to present a new bill titled “Regulation of Use of Government Premises and Properties Bill – 2025,” which aims to restrict the activities of organizations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in government facilities.
The controversy escalated after Priyank Kharge wrote to the Karnataka Chief Minister, urging the prohibition of RSS 'shakhas' on government land, claiming they propagate negative ideologies among the youth.
Karnataka's IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge has also reiterated his request to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for disciplinary measures against government employees affiliated with the RSS.
In a letter dated October 13, released on Thursday, Kharge referenced the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, indicating that government employees are prohibited from being members of or participating in activities linked to the RSS.
