Hyderabad, April 15 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), issued a strong warning to the Central Government on Wednesday. He stated that if the delimitation of Parliamentary constituencies leads to injustice against South India, it will catalyze a significant movement throughout the region.
KTR clearly articulated that if the delimitation process is executed in a way that reduces the representation of Southern states, it will escalate beyond a mere political exercise or legislative amendment, resulting in a formidable mass mobilization across South India.
In his remarks, he reaffirmed that there has been no alteration in the BRS party's position regarding this issue, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to the stance they publicly declared three years ago.
KTR expressed pride in being Indians and representatives of states that are crucial to the nation's progress. On Tuesday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advocating for a national political consensus to augment seats in the Lok Sabha using a hybrid model.
“The idea of increasing Lok Sabha seats based on either population or pro rata model is unacceptable to numerous states, including those in the South. I wish to express our significant apprehensions regarding the proposal to enlarge Lok Sabha seats, as proceeding on a pro rata basis poses risks for the country,” stated Revanth Reddy.
The Chief Minister also reached out to the other Southern state chief ministers, urging them to collectively resist the Centre’s initiative to implement a pro rata model for increasing Lok Sabha seats, asserting that this would be severely detrimental and harmful to the interests of Southern states.
