New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The student organization Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) expressed strong disapproval of the US actions in Venezuela during a protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, according to a statement from a student leader.

Bhim Kumar, a member of the Delhi State Committee of KYS, stated, "KYS firmly repudiates the imperialist actions of the US government and demands that it cease interference in Venezuela's affairs."

"We stand in solidarity with the Venezuelan populace, asserting their right to self-determination. We call upon peace-loving individuals globally to urge their governments to oppose this aggression against a sovereign nation," he added.

KYS further noted that following the recent attack on Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse Cilia Flores were unlawfully abducted and transported to the US to face trial on fabricated 'narco-terrorism' charges.

It is essential to highlight that as the US economic influence wanes globally, it resorts to overt attacks on sovereign nations to safeguard its unlawfully acquired assets, the organization stated.

The recent aggression towards Venezuela lacks legitimacy and contravenes international laws, being a blatant attempt by the US to seize national resources from countries that challenge its imperialist ambitions.

Bhim Kumar continued, "Venezuela is a sovereign nation with vast oil reserves, holding the largest in the world at around 303.22 billion barrels as of 2024. Nevertheless, decades of US sanctions have hampered its production capabilities."

The US has expressed intentions of involving its major oil corporations under the guise of 'developing' infrastructure for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.

Moreover, the US aims to dominate the governance of Venezuela for as long as it sees fit, thereby infringing upon the Venezuelan people's right to self-governance, KYS concluded.

Point of View

I firmly believe that the sovereignty of nations must be respected. The actions of the US in Venezuela raise critical questions about imperialism and self-determination in the modern world. It is vital for nations to advocate for peace and respect for autonomy, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and upheld.
