Patna, May 25 (NationPress) In a surprising twist, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav has expelled his eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav from both the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Yadav family for a duration of six years, attributing it to his (Tej Pratap) “irresponsible behaviour” and departure from party and family principles.
This announcement was made by Lalu Prasad on the social media platform X. “By neglecting moral values in personal life, we weaken our collective fight for social justice. The actions, public behavior, and irresponsible conduct of my eldest son do not align with our family values. Hence, I am removing him from the party and family. He will no longer have any role in either,” he stated.
Additionally, Lalu Prasad mentioned that individuals are free to choose whether to maintain connections with Tej Pratap. “He has the ability to discern the good and bad aspects of his personal life. Those who wish to have relationships with him should make that decision at their own discretion,” he remarked.
Tej Pratap’s expulsion follows the viral circulation of photos and a video featuring him alongside a woman named Anushka Yadav.
One of the photos showed her performing Karva Chauth rituals for Tej Pratap. The couple has recently made their long-term relationship, reportedly lasting over 12 years, public.
Sources close to the family indicate that Lalu Prasad Yadav was surprised by the nature and timing of this revelation, especially as it occurred without any prior family discussion.
In response to these developments, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar and Tej Pratap’s younger brother, addressed the media, stating, “Personal life and political life are distinct. My elder brother has the right to make decisions regarding his personal life. However, we learned about this through the media and were not informed in advance.”
He further elaborated that the family cannot support actions that tarnish their public image and credibility: “As public representatives, we must uphold the dignity expected from us. We do not endorse or tolerate behavior that brings disrepute to the family or the party.”
Tejashwi reaffirmed his support for Lalu Yadav's decision, emphasizing that the party president has communicated his feelings clearly and that the party stands firmly behind them.
Tej Pratap Yadav, an MLA from Hassanpur and former Environment Minister and Forest and Climate Change Minister, has often found himself at the center of controversy due to his unpredictable public behavior and unorthodox statements.
His strained relationships with both his former wife, Aishwarya Rai, and family members have long spurred speculation regarding internal conflicts.
