Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Feb 14 (NationPress) A well-respected civil attorney was brutally shot dead in broad daylight while en route to the courthouse in Karera tehsil, Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday. This shocking event has reverberated throughout the local legal community, igniting severe outrage among fellow advocates.
The victim, identified as Sanjay Kumar Saxena, 57, was a notable lawyer practicing at the Karera civil court. He was attacked on Saturday morning close to the Anand Sagar Temple on Siddhan Road.
Shivpuri District Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore informed the press that unidentified gunmen opened fire indiscriminately at the lawyer on a secluded road while he was commuting to work. "This seems to be a premeditated murder, likely with a motive. The police are exploring all angles, and forensic teams are analyzing the evidence," he stated.
The advocate suffered multiple gunshot injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.
This incident has fueled intense anger among attorneys in the area, who label it a bold attack on the legal profession.
“We have increased security at the courthouse and assigned the investigation to relevant police divisions for a thorough inquiry,” the SP added.
Family members, including the victim’s brother, Advocate Kuldeep Saxena, have made serious accusations linking the murder to a land dispute. They allege that Sanjay Saxena had successfully represented a client from Sigdaua village in a contentious property case, achieving a favorable ruling.
After the verdict, the losing party reportedly held a personal grudge and issued repeated death threats, according to the family. They claim that Sanjay Saxena remained resolute and continued his professional duties despite the warnings.
Advocate Kuldeep Saxena further alleged that the murder was planned by individuals from Sigdaua village.
“Every angle is being thoroughly investigated, including family allegations against several suspects,” the SP noted, adding that “the true motive—be it related to a land dispute, electoral rivalry, or other factors—will only become clear after a detailed police investigation.”
