Bhopal, Dec 6 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident, a school principal was reportedly shot dead by a student in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, police stated on Friday.

The event took place at a government-operated senior higher secondary school situated in Ghamora village, falling under the jurisdiction of Orchha Road police station.

As per the details, the principal exited his office and headed to the washroom around 1:30 p.m. When he emerged, a Class 12 student opened fire on him.

He sustained two gunshot wounds—one to the head and another to the chest—and fled the scene. The deceased principal has been identified as Surendra Kumar Saxena (55), who was a resident of Chhatarpur.

Upon hearing the gunfire, several teachers and students rushed out of their classrooms and discovered Principal Saxena lying in a pool of blood. They transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

A police team quickly responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem, according to police reports.

This incident has caused widespread panic among the students and teachers present at the school.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vikram Singh, along with other officers, arrived at the scene and mentioned that two teams have been dispatched to locate the accused student.

He further stated that police teams have begun questioning school staff and some senior students. The motive behind the crime is still unclear.

"School staff and several students are undergoing interrogation. Meanwhile, two police teams are actively searching for the accused student," ASP Vikram Singh reported.

As news of the incident spread, parents began arriving at the school to take their children home.
