School Administrator Shot Dead by Neighbor in Bihar

Patna, Dec 25 (NationPress) A private school administrator in the East Champaran district of Bihar was tragically shot dead by his neighbor on Wednesday.

The victim, Mohammad Irshad, who operated a school in Rampurwa village under the Dumaria Ghat police station, sustained serious gunshot injuries to his head and back when his neighbor, Mohammad Shahabuddin, allegedly opened fire.

Despite being injured, Irshad managed to reach his uncle's residence, but the gate was locked. Villagers, in collaboration with the district police, rushed him to a private nursing home in Motihari, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Officers from the Dumaria Ghat police station and Chakia SDPO arrived at the location after they were alerted.

“An investigation has been launched into this incident. We have also summoned a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to assist with the inquiry. Efforts are ongoing to capture the suspect,” stated Swarn Prabhat, Superintendent of Police for East Champaran.

According to the police, Irshad was en route to his school when Shahabuddin confronted him and fired at him from close range. Even with his injuries, Irshad reached his uncle's house but collapsed there. Shahabuddin followed him and shot him in the head.

After the act, he fled the scene.

During the investigation, it was revealed that there was a history of conflict between Mohammad Irshad and Shahabuddin, linked to a previous dispute regarding the construction of a balcony.

The two had recently argued about the removal of a balcony from Shahabuddin's home, as their properties are adjacent. Although the issue had been previously settled through a Panchayat intervention, it appeared that residual tensions might have remained.

“Even though the initial conflict was resolved, lingering tensions could have played a role in this incident,” Prabhat explained.

The police are diligently looking into the case, including any potential motives tied to past disagreements.

“We have recovered the deceased's body and sent it for autopsy. A murder FIR has been filed under the applicable sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) at Dumaria Ghat police station. Raids are currently being conducted to apprehend the accused,” Prabhat added.
