Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, April 7 (NationPress) - On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the dismantling of an interstate Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror operation, resulting in the capture of five terrorists, two of whom are Pakistani nationals.
Authorities revealed that coordinated raids were executed at 19 sites across various states, including Haryana and Rajasthan.
Among those apprehended was Abdullah, also known as Abu Hureira, an LeT operative who had been on the run for 16 years.
During these raids, substantial incriminating evidence linked to terrorist activities was seized, according to officials.
This operation has unveiled a well-established LeT network within India that has been instrumental in providing logistical and financial support to terrorists, officials noted.
The LeT is notorious for being the most sought-after terrorist organization in Jammu and Kashmir, implicated in numerous attacks within the Union Territory.
This group comprises Pakistani operatives who manage operations from across the border, supported by mercenaries and local recruits who are indoctrinated through religion, drugs, and financial incentives.
The LeT was responsible for the devastating Pahalgam attack on April 22 of last year, which claimed 26 lives, including 25 tourists and a local pony owner.
This incident prompted India to initiate ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting terror infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Furthermore, LeT terrorists executed an attack on civilian laborers at the Z-Morh tunnel in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district on October 20, 2024, resulting in the deaths of six non-local laborers and a local doctor.
In a joint operation dubbed ‘Operation Mahadev’, the Indian Army and J&K Police eliminated the terrorists responsible for both the Pahalgam and Gagangir attacks in July 2025.
The terrorists were tracked down and killed at the foot of Mahadev Peak near Dachigam National Park in the Srinagar district.
