Bengaluru, Sep 5 (NationPress) The Commissioner of Police, Seemanth Kumar Singh, has mandated a total prohibition on the sale of liquor in various districts in an effort to maintain public safety during the upcoming Eid-e-Milad festivities this Friday.
On Thursday, Police Commissioner Singh stated, "On September 5, in celebration of Eid-e-Milad, our Muslim community will commence a procession from the precincts of Kothanur and Sampigehalli police stations in the North-east division. The procession will traverse Thanisandra Main Road, Nagawara Main Road, Arabic College Main Road, Shyampur Main Road, Tannery Road, Haines Road, H.K.P Road, Thammayya Road, Jayamahal Road, and Nandidurga Road in the eastern division."
"We anticipate approximately 50,000 to 60,000 participants in the procession. As the event concludes, the crowd may swell late into the night, heightening the risk of individuals consuming alcohol and potentially causing disturbances to public order and tranquility," the Commissioner elaborated.
"To ensure the peaceful execution of the Eid-e-Milad procession, a complete ban on liquor sales will be enforced from 5 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Saturday. This applies to the jurisdictions of Hennur, R.M. Nagar, Govindapura, K.G. Halli, D.G. Halli, Pulakeshinagar, Bharathinagar, Commercial Street, Shivajinagar, J.C. Nagar, and R.T. Nagar police stations in the eastern and northern divisions," added the Commissioner.
"Having thoroughly reviewed this situation and based on credible intelligence, I have concluded that prohibiting liquor sales is necessary to avert any law and order disruptions during the Eid-e-Milad event and to prevent any unfortunate incidents," he mentioned.
"In accordance with the authority granted by Sub-sections (1) and (3) of Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, I, Seemanth Kumar Singh, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Bangalore City, hereby mandate the closure of all bars, restaurants, wine shops, pubs, and M.S.I.L. shops (excluding CL-4 and CL-6A licenses) within the specified jurisdictions from 6 a.m. on September 5 until 6 a.m. on September 6," the Commissioner concluded.
"I have enforced this prohibition to ensure the closure of all liquor-selling establishments, including liquor stores, and to halt their sales (aside from food services in restaurants and hotels)," he added.
