Key Takeaways
Bhopal, December 15 (NationPress) – The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced on Monday that the state government has introduced a dedicated rehabilitation program aimed at all Maoists who decide to surrender. He emphasized that regions liberated from Left Wing Extremism (LWE) will soon embark on a journey towards new opportunities and accelerated development.
Yadav highlighted that a thorough strategy is being put in place to prevent the resurgence of Maoist or other extremist activities in Madhya Pradesh. The state is actively collaborating with neighboring regions to enhance this effort.
“The regions that have suffered will now experience a transformation and a swift pace of progress,” stated Chief Minister Yadav.
He pointed out that Left Wing Extremism and the associated red terror have historically posed significant barriers to development and instilled fear among the populace. Thus, eradicating Maoism and LWE is the government's utmost priority.
The Chief Minister reiterated that resolving the long-standing Maoist challenge is crucial for propelling development in Madhya Pradesh.
“Confronting Maoist activities was a formidable task, but thanks to our rehabilitation policies and support from the central government, we have made strides,” he remarked.
On December 11, CM Yadav celebrated a pivotal milestone for the state, noting that Madhya Pradesh earned the remarkable status of being LWE-free, successfully concluding 35 years of red terror.
“December 11 stands out as a historic day for Madhya Pradesh, marking our achievement in becoming LWE-free,” he affirmed.
Importantly, this accomplishment was reached approximately three and a half months ahead of the deadline established by Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the eradication of Naxalism across the nation.
In the MMC Zone, which includes Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, 42 Maoists surrendered over a 42-day period, opting to reintegrate into the fabric of development. Furthermore, 10 hardened Maoists were neutralized in encounters in Madhya Pradesh during 2025, according to the Chief Minister.
Reflecting on the history of Maoist activity in the state, he noted that such activities began between 1988 and 1990, during which Maoists intimidated civilians and obstructed crucial government development initiatives.
