Raipur, Nov 28 (NationPress) In an astonishing turn of events that indicates a near-total disintegration of the Maoist movement in the tri-junction area, the Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh Special Zonal Committee (MMC Zone) of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) has publicly announced its plan to collectively lay down arms on 1 January 2026.

The spokesperson for the MMC Zone, Anant, issued a comprehensive press statement along with individual letters directed to the Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, indicating that members across the entire zone will “adopt Poonamargam (rehabilitation path), not surrender” together on the first day of the new year.

The communication urges the three state governments to promptly cease all anti-LWE activities, propose the “most favorable rehabilitation package,” and ensure safe passage for their members.

Anant clarified that the zone will align with whichever government presents the most appealing terms and grants them “due respect.”

Notably, the spokesperson has canceled this year’s annual “PLGA Week” (formerly known as Naxalite Week) celebrations and has instructed all members to refrain from individual surrenders, urging them to await the collective action.

He stressed that disarming at this point is not a betrayal of ideology or the populace, but rather a strategic choice, asserting that “this is not the right time for armed struggle.”

In an effort to maintain coordination among dispersed members, Anant has provided an open Baofeng radio frequency and advised every cadre to connect daily between 11 a.m. and 11.15 a.m. throughout December 2025 and on the first day of January 2026.

“We are in an incredibly challenging situation. All comrades must practice patience, retain hope, and avoid acting alone. We will traverse the path of Poonamargam together on 1 January 2026,” the press note articulates.

High-ranking security officials across all three states have acknowledged receipt of the letter, characterizing it as the clearest sign of profound demoralization and fragmentation within the Maoist ranks following relentless operations and significant surrenders throughout 2025.

Sources indicate that the governments are analyzing the correspondence, and a coordinated response is anticipated in the upcoming days.

This announcement follows weeks after numerous senior DKSZC and MMC leaders either surrendered or were neutralized, significantly diminishing the once-mighty tri-junction zone to only a few dozen armed cadres.
