Alirajpur, February 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, expressed on Friday that the Bhagoria festival represents the essence of tribal culture, showcasing social bonds, traditional values, and a profound respect for nature.
This remark came during his attendance at the Bhagoria festival in Udaigarh, located within the tribal-rich Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
Mohan Yadav emphasized that the richness of this traditional festival can only be truly felt through active participation.
He remarked that the festival exemplifies the robust identity of tribal culture and highlights the empathetic approach of the state government.
Arriving at the venue via a roadshow, the Chief Minister was greeted warmly by local residents and tribal artists.
Artists, adorned in vibrant traditional costumes, showcased their cultural dances to honor the chief guest.
In his address, the Chief Minister assured attendees that the state government is wholeheartedly devoted to preserving and promoting tribal traditions and is consistently supporting such cultural festivities.
The Bhagoria festival is a week-long celebration held in western Madhya Pradesh (including Jhabua, Alirajpur, Khargone, Barwani, and Dhar) just prior to Holi, marking the onset of spring and the harvest season.
This significant social event serves as a traditional marketplace where people purchase goods for Holi, while also celebrating love, culture, and music within the Bhil and Bhilala communities.
The festival includes a 'Nasha Mukti Abhiyan' (de-addiction campaign) in select areas, promoting abstinence from substance abuse during the festivities.
Prior to joining the Bhagoria festival, Chief Minister Yadav paid a visit to Bhabra village, the birthplace of the renowned freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad, to commemorate his 95th martyrdom anniversary with floral tributes.
At a different event in Alirajpur, the Chief Minister also performed the 'bhoomi-pujan' and inaugurated various development initiatives in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar, valued at over Rs 180 crore.
