Madhya Pradesh's Ambitious Medical Hub Along Indore-Ujjain Corridor: Deputy CM Shukla
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Indore, April 10 (NationPress) Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla announced on Friday that Madhya Pradesh is advancing its initiative to establish a dedicated regional medical hub along the Indore-Ujjain corridor. This project aims to enhance healthcare services and foster medical tourism.
During a stakeholder consultation workshop focused on the proposed Health and Wellness Tourism Corridor in Indore, Shukla emphasized that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's national vision to create specialized medical hubs throughout the country.
“Efforts are already underway in Madhya Pradesh to establish a regional medical hub. This development will enhance healthcare facilities, stimulate medical tourism, and create job opportunities,” Shukla stated.
He elaborated on the selection of the location, noting that the Indore-Ujjain corridor is perfectly suited for this venture. The region is home to the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga on one side and the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain on the other.
A significant influx of visitors to both sites for darshan makes this area inherently appropriate. Additionally, Indore serves as a major educational center.
The proposed hub aims to deliver affordable healthcare services of international standards through advanced technology while also promoting wellness and AYUSH-based treatments.
“Our goal is to provide high-quality care to patients from across India and abroad while showcasing India's medical capabilities globally,” he added.
Shukla pointed out that India already ranks well in the Medical Tourism Index and Wellness Index, and this new hub will further bolster that position.
Furthermore, the project is expected to enhance patient care, rehabilitation services, and AYUSH facilities throughout the state.
Highlighting the expansion of healthcare, he remarked that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the sector has grown significantly. Madhya Pradesh is also reaping the benefits, with wellness centers emerging in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
He also mentioned the success of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which has provided free treatment to millions.
Shukla noted that the enhancement of healthcare infrastructure in the state has diminished the necessity for patients to seek treatment in metropolitan areas.
“In the past, individuals had to travel to cities like Mumbai for organ transplants; however, such services are now available in Indore,” he stated.
Shukla raised concerns regarding public health, highlighting that contaminated drinking water is a significant contributor to illness. He advocated for the promotion of natural farming practices, including the use of organic inputs, to improve soil health and overall health outcomes.
