Patna, Sep 16 (NationPress) As RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav gears up to kickstart his 'Bihar Adhikar Yatra' from Jehanabad on Tuesday, Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh has claimed that the Mahagathbandhan has essentially disintegrated, highlighting the absence of Congress figures, notably Rahul Gandhi, from the event.
In an interview with IANS, Singh remarked, "Tejashwi Yadav should find a corner to lament. Tejashwi proclaimed himself a Chief Ministerial candidate while Rahul Gandhi remained silent and offered no support."
"Perhaps, he (Rahul Gandhi) does not favor Tejashwi as the CM. Both view each other as corrupt; there is no longer any collaboration between them," he continued.
In previous campaigns, such as the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar, both Tejashwi and Rahul Gandhi marched alongside various Opposition leaders. However, this time, the RJD leader will embark on his journey alone, targeting districts that Rahul Gandhi overlooked during his extensive 1,500-km trek across 25 of Bihar's 38 districts.
Singh's comments have sparked speculation regarding a growing divide between the RJD and the Congress, particularly since Rahul Gandhi did not endorse Tejashwi Yadav as the Mahagathbandhan's Chief Ministerial candidate.
Nonetheless, the RJD has clarified that the Bihar Adhikar Yatra is centered on pressing issues such as unemployment and the law and order situation in Bihar.
Tejashwi is set to commence the yatra from Jehanabad and will initially navigate through NDA strongholds like Nalanda, the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Begusarai, the parliamentary region of Giriraj Singh.
The first phase is scheduled to conclude in Vaishali on September 20, covering districts including Patna, Khagaria, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, and Samastipur.
Tejashwi Yadav's own constituency, Raghopur, is located in Vaishali district.
Mahua, also in Vaishali, where Tejashwi's elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav previously served as an MLA, will be part of the tour as well. Tej Pratap has already declared his intention to run for office in Mahua again, despite his expulsion from the RJD.
