Maharashtra: Blaze Erupts at Two Chemical Plants in Palghar

Mumbai, Dec 30 (NationPress) A significant fire erupted at two chemical plants situated in the Boisar-Tarapur MIDC area of Palghar district, Maharashtra, according to officials.
A senior official from the Maharashtra Police confirmed that the fire started at the UK Aromatic and Chemicals facility on Navapur Road in the Salwad Shivaji Nagar locality of Palghar and rapidly spread to the adjacent Shree Chemicals.
Numerous fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters worked diligently to manage the situation.
After approximately five hours, multiple fire engines and water tankers successfully controlled the inferno.
A significant disaster was averted as workers evacuated from the affected UK Aromatic and Chemicals Factory, officials stated.
The origin of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
Firefighting operations are still ongoing to extinguish the flames, with no injuries reported as of Sunday night, officials noted.
Visuals depicted large plumes of black smoke rising from the burning industrial site.
The Palghar fire control room received an alert about the incident around 6:20 p.m., triggering an immediate firefighting response, as reported by a Fire Brigade official.
"The fire is under control. No injuries have been reported," the official confirmed around 11 p.m.
Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheab Patil mentioned that the fire ignited around 5:20 p.m. and spread due to strong winds, damaging a chemical unit and a textile facility.
In a separate incident, a fire broke out on a hill slope in the Goregaon area of Mumbai shortly after midnight on Sunday, with no injuries reported.
This 'level-one' fire, which commenced at 12:14 a.m., was limited to dry leaves, shrubs, and trees over a 1.5-km stretch on the hillside behind IT Park in Goregaon (East). Firefighting operations successfully contained the blaze by 2:35 a.m. The cause of this fire has yet to be established.
Additionally, a 'level-1' fire started on Sunday morning at the Heera Panna Shopping Centre on Pandit Madanmohan Malavia Marg near Haji Ali, Mumbai. This fire, reported at 9:09 a.m., was confined to two closed shops on the ground floor of the commercial complex, according to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB). No injuries were reported in this incident.
Dense smoke filled the ground floor of the single-storey shopping centre, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Fire extinguishing measures were promptly initiated using one small hose line and two high-pressure first aid lines connected to four motor pumps.
