Mumbai, May 16 (NationPress) In an effort to pay tribute to the legacy of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, Maharashtra’s Minister of Cultural Affairs and Information Technology Ashish Shelar proposed the creation of a magnificent national memorial at the historic Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands.
This significant proposal was discussed during a meeting with Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
Previously, Shelar had also addressed a formal request to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking the Central Government’s backing and approval for this ambitious project.
“The Cellular Jail, which once represented sacrifice, must now transform into a symbol of national remembrance.
