Nagpur, Jan 18 (NationPress) The Maharashtra Congress on Saturday criticized the BJP-led MahaYuti government regarding the decline in law and order, questioning how can ordinary citizens feel secure when both celebrities and village sarpanch are facing attacks.
State unit leader Nana Patole stated: "There is no need to stress that Maharashtra has fallen into a state of lawlessness. It is disheartening that Maharashtra is being labeled as a 'lawless state' in Delhi today. The BJP government has damaged the state's reputation and must cease creating fear to hold onto power.
"Law and order has utterly disintegrated, with celebrities at risk in Mumbai and sarpanches in villages not safe. What of the safety of common people in such a climate?"
Patole informed reporters that the situation in the state has spiraled out of control, and criminals no longer have any fear of the police.
"Criminals have developed the belief that no one can harm them. While the Home Minister bears primary responsibility for law and order, what can one expect when 65 percent of the Cabinet ministers are compromised? This situation must change," he remarked.
Mentioning the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, Patole urged the public to avoid viewing it through the lens of caste or religion.
"In the Maharashtra of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, there is no place for caste or religious bias. Individuals from all communities should feel secure in this state," he emphasized.
Patole also pointed out the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh and the death of Somnath Suryavanshi from Parbhani as a result of police brutality.
Linking such incidents to caste or religion would be misguided, he asserted.
"The conflict between Marathas and OBCs was instigated by the BJP alliance government, diverting attention from the key issues faced by the populace. Farmers are not receiving fair prices for their produce, suicides are on the rise, debt burdens are increasing, youth face unemployment, and inflation is soaring. These are the genuine concerns. Everyone must voice their dissent against the government instead of becoming embroiled in caste or religious disputes," he urged.
Commenting on the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, Patole accused the BJP-led alliance government of hypocrisy.
"The scheme was utilized to gain votes during the assembly elections by extending its benefits to all sisters. Now, after securing power with their votes, the BJP alliance is discovering faults in the scheme's transparency. Why weren’t these faults and transparency issues raised while campaigning for votes?
"Why is there a need for verification after forming the government? Ministers are now threatening to reclaim funds from fraudulent beneficiaries, revealing the true nature of the BJP alliance. As per their announcement, every sister must receive Rs 2,100 without exceptions," Patole insisted.
Regarding the Chief Minister's trip to Davos, Patole mentioned: "Even Shinde previously took industrialists from the state on a similar tour. Devendra Fadnavis should not mimic him. The BJP government claims Maharashtra is the leader in the industrial sector, but the reality is otherwise. The state is in decline. Do not waste public funds under the guise of seeking investments in Davos."
