Kolkata, Feb 2 (NationPress) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed on Monday that throughout her extensive political journey, she has never encountered a Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) as arrogant and deceitful as the current one.

"Having served as a Member of Parliament for seven terms and as a Union Minister for four terms, I can confidently assert that I have never seen a CEC like this. His arrogance is unprecedented, and he is a notorious liar. I made it clear to him that no one holds a position indefinitely; everyone must eventually step down," the Chief Minister stated to reporters following a meeting that lasted over an hour with the CEC, Gyanesh Kumar, at the Election Commission of India (ECI) headquarters in New Delhi earlier that afternoon.

Chief Minister Banerjee further claimed that West Bengal is being unfairly targeted amid the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR).

During this occasion, she specifically criticized the ECI's Director General of Information Technology, Seema Khanna, accusing her of leading efforts to eliminate genuine voters' names in West Bengal.

"Who exactly is Seema Khanna? She holds no significant position within the ECI and is associated with the BJP's Information Technology Cell. Already, 58 lakh names have been removed from the draft voters' list, yet the ECI has failed to hold her accountable," the Chief Minister remarked.

Banerjee also revealed that due to the CEC's arrogance and the disrespect faced by the Trinamool Congress delegation, she chose to boycott and leave the meeting with the ECI midway.

"From the outset, he (CEC) treated us with disrespect. I warned the CEC that ultimately, his fate would mirror that of the former Indian Vice-President and West Bengal Governor, Jagdeep Dhankhar. He operates just like the former Governor, obediently following the BJP's directives," the Chief Minister stated.

According to her, the current CEC's apparent targeting of West Bengal is evident by the appointment of special electoral roll observers and micro-observers solely for the voter revision process in the state.

"Throughout my lengthy political career, I have encountered numerous CECs, but never one who behaves like a mere mouthpiece and agent for the ruling party (BJP)," the Chief Minister commented.

Banerjee questioned the hurried nature of the SIR, asking, "Why is SIR not being conducted in Assam? Can the CEC request the Prime Minister to provide his parents' birth certificates? Although the ECI's cameraman was present at today’s meeting, why were other cameramen barred?"
