Kolkata, March 26 (NationPress) - The Trinamool Congress will extend legal support to voters whose names face deletion amid the ongoing judicial review process, announced West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday.
“Voters affected by name deletions during this judicial adjudication will receive legal assistance from the Trinamool Congress. We will ensure they have access to advocates,” the Chief Minister declared during an election rally in Pandaveswar, located in the West Burdwan district.
This declaration follows a statement from the Election Commission of India (ECI), which revealed on Wednesday that, out of 60 lakh cases submitted for judicial review, 32 lakh cases had been processed, with approximately 40% deemed excludable.
However, those whose names have been excluded will have the chance to appeal at one of the 19 designated Appellate Tribunals.
During her speech, the Chief Minister urged the women of West Bengal to take proactive measures against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “They may attempt to undermine us, but ultimately, the Trinamool Congress will prevail. It is crucial that women lead this charge,” she stated.
