Hyderabad, April 12 (NationPress) Renowned Telugu folk artist Mangli, whose real name is Satyavathi Mudavath, has filed a police report against lawyer Singapogu Subbu, alleging both abuse and extortion. This comes just one day after Subbu accused her of a purported Rs 10 crore fraud related to microfinance.

Mangli, accompanied by her attorney, visited the Panjagutta Police Station on Sunday to present her case against Subbu. She claims he demanded Rs 10 lakh from her, and upon her refusal, he verbally abused her and threatened to tarnish her image on social media platforms.

Subbu asserts that he represents almost 100 individuals who were allegedly persuaded to invest their money with the promise of lucrative returns through film financing and other business ventures. The investors have reported that neither their original investments nor the promised returns have been honored.

The lawyer contends that he faced threats when he inquired about repayment from the accused.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those pertaining to criminal intimidation and fraud.

On the same day, Mangli firmly denied Subbu's claims, vowing to challenge what she described as baseless accusations.

In an emotional address to the media, she expressed her distress regarding the allegations. She emphasized her hard work to achieve fame through a platform like Bigg Boss and accused the lawyer of subjecting her to harassment through false claims.

Mangli recounted an incident on March 22, when Subbu approached her, introduced himself as her legal representative, and made inappropriate comments. She alleged that he requested Rs 10 lakh from her, threatening to remove specific videos about her from YouTube, Instagram, and other social networks.

After her refusal to comply with his demands, Mangli stated that Subbu and his associates resorted to abusive language and threats to damage her reputation online.

She has called upon law enforcement to take decisive action against Subbu for his alleged criminal intimidation, extortion, and harassment.

Point of View

The allegations exchanged between folk singer Mangli and lawyer Singapogu Subbu highlight significant concerns regarding the ethics of legal representation and personal accountability. As the case unfolds, it is crucial to observe how the legal system addresses such serious claims while ensuring justice for all parties involved.
