Raipur, Sep 27 (NationPress) In a significant strike against Maoist insurgents, security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district have effectively dismantled a secret ordnance factory run by the illegal Communist Party of India (Maoist).

The operation, executed on September 26, was a collaborative effort between the Sukma District Force and the elite 203rd battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), a specialized unit of the CRPF.

Following actionable intelligence, the team initiated a search operation from the Mettaguda police camp, meticulously scouring the dense forests around Erapalli and Koimenta villages. Hidden deep within the forested hills near Koimenta, they discovered a covert Maoist weapons manufacturing site. The factory was immediately dismantled, leading to the seizure of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, as reported by a senior police official.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan indicated that the confiscated materials point to the Maoists’ preparations for a major assault on security forces. “This operation is a significant success. The factory was fabricating weapons and IEDs intended for deployment against our personnel. We have thwarted a perilous scheme,” Chavan remarked, highlighting the ongoing commitment to intensifying such operations.

The confiscated items encompassed one vertical milling machine, two barrel grenade launchers (BGLs), 94 BGL heads, 12 empty BGL shells, three bench vices, one hand grinder, six wooden rifle butts, three directional IED pipes, four solar batteries, 80 steel pipe pieces for BGLs, and a considerable quantity of gas cutter heads, moulding pots, iron cutter wheels, and iron scraps.

The senior police official noted that the factory’s semi-industrial arrangement, featuring solar batteries and precision milling tools, showcases the Maoists’ advancing technical prowess and their intention to maintain prolonged operations. The presence of trigger mechanisms and borehole drilling bits further emphasizes the sophistication of the facility.

This successful raid signifies a strategic triumph for the security forces, who have intensified counter-insurgency operations throughout the Bastar division. So far in 2025, 249 Maoists have been neutralized in various encounters across Chhattisgarh, with 220 eliminated in Bastar alone. The operation not only neutralized a vital Maoist asset but also reaffirmed the government’s dedication to restoring peace and security in the region.
