Chandigarh, Dec 21 (NationPress) On the momentous occasion of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini graced the grand 'Shaheedi Samagam' at Gurdwara Sahib Gobindpura in Bhamboli, Yamunanagar, as the chief guest, where he paid floral respects to the ninth Sikh Guru.
Speaking to the attendees, the Chief Minister expressed that being present on this revered land among the ‘sangat’ filled him with immense pride and reverence. He remarked that everyone gathered was there to honor a remarkable legacy that not only preserved India’s identity but also illuminated the path of offering everything for faith and truth.
The Shaheedi Samagam was dedicated to the sacrifices made by Guru Tegh Bahadur, Mata Gujri, and the four Sahibzadas. The Chief Minister noted that the spiritual flow of Gurbani through distinguished kirtani ‘jathas’ and ‘kathavachaks’ would not only uplift the spirits of the ‘sangat’ but also serve to inspire the youth with the remarkable sacrifices of the Gurus and the brave Sahibzadas.
During the event, the Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 31 lakh for the Gurdwara trust, which in turn honored him with a ‘siropa’, a portrait of Guru Tegh Bahadur, and a sword.
A large blood donation camp was also held at the ‘samagam’, exemplifying the Gurus’ teachings that service to humanity is the highest form of worship. He praised the youth who volunteered to donate blood, emphasizing that their contributions could save lives.
The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt thanks to Baba Jasdeep Singh and the event organizers for their successful execution of the ‘samagam’.
He stated that the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh's family is recognized as the greatest sacrifice in world history. Remembering the martyrdom of Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, who were only six and nine years old, respectively, he noted that there is no parallel in history where innocent children faced being bricked alive for their faith without yielding.
He reflected on how, within a single week from December 20 to 27 in 1704, all members of Guru Gobind Singh's family sacrificed their lives for the protection of faith and humanity—a week that will be forever memorialized in history. This sacrifice teaches that bravery is not bound by age.
The Chief Minister highlighted Mata Gujri's strength, who, despite the harsh conditions of imprisonment, instilled unwavering faith in her grandsons, continuing to inspire mothers and sisters today.
