Prayagraj, Jan 26 (NationPress) Boxer and Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom attended the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday, sharing her experience of visiting this spiritual gathering for the very first time.

She expressed her contentment with the comprehensive arrangements and effective management of the mela grounds, even with thousands of devotees arriving in the sacred town daily. She praised both the state government and the Central government for their commendable administration, sanitation, and meticulous planning to ensure a comfortable pilgrimage for all attendees.

Mary Kom, who took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam—the revered confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers—shared her thoughts with journalists.

"It was a wonderful experience. The arrangements are superb. I would like to extend my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They have made this a world-class pilgrimage," remarked Mary Kom.

"This is my initial experience. Although I am a Christian, I came here to support the Maha Kumbh," she highlighted, emphasizing the notion of Sanatan-Christian unity.

"The arrangements are remarkable. Visitors from Russia, America, and various other countries are arriving to witness the Maha Kumbh. This is a fantastic initiative. I am thrilled to be here and participate in the Kumbh Mela," Mary Kom stated further.

The Maha Kumbh, a highly esteemed Hindu festival, commenced on January 13 with the 'Pavitra Snan' and observed its second day on Makar Sankranti, marking the beginning of the 'Amrit Snan.'

This festival is set to conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri. Significant upcoming 'Snan' dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Magh Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivratri).

Despite the frigid weather, thousands of devotees continue to gather at the Triveni Sangam to partake in this sacred tradition.

The administration has carefully organized the event to ensure the customs of Sanatan Dharma are respected while maintaining order and precise timing.

As per the latest reports, over 10 crore devotees have already immersed themselves in the Triveni Sangam, marking a historic turnout for the Maha Kumbh.
