Kushinagar, April 12 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched a pointed political critique of opposition parties during his speech at the Samrat Ashok Janmotsav in Padrauna, Kushinagar.
In a direct jab at Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya ridiculed the SP's "PDA" concept, stating, "In fact, Akhilesh Yadav's PDA signifies Parivar Development Authority."
He accused the former Samajwadi Party government of misusing police authority to intimidate business owners, unlawfully seize land, and file baseless cases. "Currently, the SP finds itself trapped on every front. Akhilesh Yadav is fantasizing about regaining power in 2027, but I predict the SP won’t return even by 2047," Maurya proclaimed.
Emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Maurya compared him to Emperor Ashoka. "Similar to Samrat Ashoka, Prime Minister Modi has endeavored to eliminate discrimination and has fostered the development of sites associated with Lord Buddha. He proudly informed the United Nations that India presented 'Buddha to the world' and even granted Pali—the language of Lord Buddha—the status of a classical language," he noted.
Maurya also addressed the recent violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, relating to the Waqf Act, alleging, "This is state-sponsored violence. Public properties are being damaged, and the situation is more dire than during the SP's rule in Uttar Pradesh. However, change is on the horizon, and the upcoming election will favor the BJP."
He further accused the opposition—SP, BSP, and Congress—of practicing Muslim appeasement politics. "They are not opposing the Waqf (Amendment) Act; they are challenging the BJP. But this appeasement politics is now a thing of the past. India is progressing, liberated from such politics," he asserted.
Earlier that day, the Deputy Chief Minister arrived at Kushinagar International Airport, where party members warmly greeted him with garlands and bouquets.
Before the ceremony, he paid his respects at the Mahaparinirvana site of Lord Buddha, offering a chivar (robe) to the reclining statue.
The event, hosted at the Junior High School in Padrauna, was organized by the Rashtriya Kushwaha, Shakya, Saini Maurya Mahasabha.
From the stage, Maurya acknowledged the audience with a wave and was presented with a memento and floral garlands during the function.
