Jabalpur, April 20 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has been a significant blessing for Maya Bai Khare, a resident of Chandrashekhar Ward in Ranjhi Talaiya of the Cantt Assembly constituency in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Maya Bai, who spent the last 40 years living in a kutcha house, now enjoys a comfortable life in a pucca house with her family, all thanks to the PM Awas Yojana, a welfare initiative by the Modi government.
Launched in 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana aims to provide affordable and permanent housing solutions for the economically weaker sections, low-income groups, and middle-income families throughout both rural and urban India. By 2023, the program is expected to complete the construction of around 20 million houses.
In her conversation with IANS, Maya Bai Khare expressed, “I have been married for 40 years, and since then I have resided in this kutcha tiled house of my in-laws. Water frequently leaked into the house during rain and winter, and the walls had deteriorated. Upon learning about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, I visited the office of regional MLA Ashok Rohani to gather detailed information.”
After applying to the scheme and getting her eligibility confirmed, her application was approved, allowing her to benefit from the PM Awas Yojana.
Maya Bai expressed her joy, stating that she has now constructed a pucca house with a solid lintel, replacing her old kutcha house. They no longer worry about the heat, cold, and rain as they did before. She conveyed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that this scheme has provided her family with a safe and dignified life.
Maya Bai's son, Shubhanshu Khare, also shared his sentiments regarding the PM Awas Yojana. “I spent my entire childhood in the same kutcha house. Now, having the chance to live in a pucca house with my parents feels like a dream realized,” he told IANS.
Shubhanshu further thanked Prime Minister Modi, noting that this scheme will be immensely beneficial for those who have been unable to dream of a pucca house for years due to financial limitations.
