Lucknow, March 26 (NationPress) The president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mayawati, launched a fierce critique of the BJP on Wednesday, claiming that the 'Saugat-e-Modi' program is merely a tool for advancing its political goals while pretending to reach out to minority groups.

In a post shared on X, Mayawati condemned the BJP's recent decision to send special kits and messages from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to minority families during significant religious occasions like Eid, Baisakhi, Good Friday, and Easter.

She stated, "The BJP's move to distribute the Prime Minister’s 'love message and gift' through 'Saugat-e-Modi' to 32 lakh impoverished minority families during Eid, Baisakhi, Good Friday, and Easter is solely motivated by political self-interest. In a climate where Muslims and the Bahujan Samaj are living in fear for their lives, properties, and faiths, what value do such gifts hold?"

She further insisted that rather than focusing on symbolic gestures, the government should prioritize tackling issues of poverty, unemployment, and social disadvantages faced by minority communities.

"It would have been more beneficial for the Central and State governments led by the BJP, instead of bestowing the 'Gift of Modi' upon a handful of underprivileged Muslim and other religious minority families, to establish sustainable employment solutions and take significant measures to combat their poverty, unemployment, and marginalization. Ensuring their security is equally vital," she remarked in another message.

The BJP initiated the 'Saugat-e-Modi' campaign on Tuesday as part of its strategy to reach out to underprivileged Muslim communities. As part of this initiative, 32 lakh underprivileged Muslims nationwide will receive special kits ahead of Eid.

To implement this, 32,000 BJP volunteers have been assigned, each responsible for one mosque. The campaign seeks to reach 32,000 mosques across the country, with BJP workers distributing the gifts prior to the festival.

The BJP's Minority Morcha is leading the campaign and managing the distribution of the 'Saugat-e-Modi' kits.

This initiative is perceived as part of the party's broader strategy to engage with and garner the support of marginalized segments within minority communities.
