Measures Underway in Case of Suicide of College Student from Scheduled Caste: Haryana Minister

Chandigarh, Dec 31 (NationPress) Haryana's Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Bedi, stated on Tuesday that measures are being implemented against those accountable for the tragic suicide of a woman college student belonging to a Scheduled Caste.
In reaction to comments made by Congress leaders regarding this heinous act, he emphasized that instead of defending the alleged perpetrators, those tweeting should concentrate on advocating for action against them.
"An FIR has been lodged, and the police are diligently working to apprehend the offenders," the minister informed the media.
Bedi mentioned that the educational institution attended by the victim had previously been discussing free education and transportation facilities in the region. He noted that videos featuring the local MLA discussing these matters are circulating on social media.
The girl's father has submitted a complaint to the police, claiming that the college principal and his sibling subjected her to both mental and physical harassment.
An FIR was filed at the Loharu police station on December 27, with law enforcement actively pursuing the suspects.
Reiterating that leaders expressing their views on social media should prioritize demanding justice for the victim, Bedi criticized their half-hearted tweets, suggesting that they are inadvertently protecting the guilty.
"They should instead strive to secure justice for the affected individual," he stated.
He inquired why these Congress leaders remained silent during the Mirchpur incident.
Targeting former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the minister questioned whether he would address his MLA regarding this matter. He condemned the tweets that appeared to defend the wrongdoers, urging leaders to retract their statements and focus on demanding accountability to ensure justice for the victim.
Bedi affirmed that the government stands with the victim's family, and decisive action will be taken against those at fault.
