Meghalaya Plans Over Rs 1000 Crore Investment in Sports Infrastructure: CM

Shillong, Dec 3 (NationPress) Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad Sangma declared on Tuesday that the state is preparing to invest more than Rs 1000 crore towards the development of sports infrastructure in Meghalaya.
Sangma participated in an outreach event today at Nongstoin, situated in the West Khasi Hills district.
He stated: “Our government is committing over Rs 1000 crore to improve sports infrastructure throughout Meghalaya, and I assure the citizens that our administration will collaborate closely with the community to establish sports facilities in rural locales.”
The outreach program, dubbed ‘CM Connect’, was organized for villages within the Nongstoin Block and was attended by various department heads and village representatives.
Local residents raised several issues and requested Chief Minister Sangma’s assistance.
The concerns highlighted by the public focused on sanctions for roads and bridges, health centers, tourism infrastructure development, sports infrastructure, bank availability, enhancements for flagship schemes, school upgrades, and veterinary services, among others.
The Chief Minister patiently listened to all concerns and provided guidance for swift and necessary actions to department leaders.
In addressing health facility issues, Sangma mentioned that the government is strengthening existing health centers to optimize their capacity.
He also indicated that infrastructure grants will be allocated to nonprofit organizations to improve their healthcare services.
Furthermore, Sangma announced plans to upgrade Nongstoin Civil Hospital as soon as possible.
In response to requests for interest subvention for Self-Help Groups (SHGs), he assured attendees that he would discuss the matter with the Union Finance Minister.
Regarding the construction of village roads, the Chief Minister informed that several road projects will be launched through the CM Rural Connect program.
While addressing the assembly, he remarked that ‘CM Connect’ serves as a platform for the government to hear and address the populace's concerns. He encouraged MLAs and department heads to engage with the community at their level.
The ‘CM Connect’ held in Nongstoin today marks the fifth such event in the state, and Chief Minister Sangma confirmed that he intends to maintain this initiative to bring governance closer to the public.
