Shillong, May 15 (NationPress) Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced on Thursday that the state government is actively working towards developing a digitally empowered youth population in this picturesque hill region.
The Chief Minister stated, "The government is investing consistently in the IT sector as part of a comprehensive vision to cultivate a digitally savvy and economically independent youth demographic."
He further emphasized, "The presence of both global and national IT companies is establishing Meghalaya as a prime location for technology enterprises. The state boasts a skilled workforce, and the government is backing IT-enabled services, thereby creating opportunities for our youth."
During the event, Sangma inaugurated the new office of SIROBILT Software Services Pvt. Ltd., a technology solutions firm based in the US, located at the IT Park in Mawdiangdiang, Shillong.
He remarked, "The arrival of SIROBILT in our region represents a significant advancement for our local IT landscape. The firm plans to hire up to 300 software professionals, thereby generating valuable job opportunities for our youth and enhancing employment in the tech industry."
SIROBILT becomes the fifth company to commence operations at the Shillong Tech Park, marking the completion of Phase I at the IT park.
The upcoming expansion of the Shillong Tech Park (Phase – II) aims to attract additional IT firms, start-ups, and establish skill development centers specializing in digital technologies such as AI, blockchain, and cloud computing.
