Patna, Feb 20 (NationPress) RJD MP Misa Bharti has conveyed her heartfelt congratulations to Rekha Gupta on her recent elevation to the role of Chief Minister of Delhi.

During a media interaction in Patna, Bharti stated, "As a woman, I am thrilled to see Rekha Gupta assuming the Chief Minister position in Delhi, and I extend my warm wishes to her."

She also recognized the previous contributions of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration in Delhi and expressed optimism that Gupta would effectively continue to serve the citizens.

Bharti emphasized the importance of a woman being appointed as Chief Minister by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) post-2014.

Rekha Gupta, a 50-year-old former student leader, took her oath as Chief Minister of Delhi on February 20, 2025, following the BJP's triumph in the local elections, marking the party's re-entry into power in Delhi after a gap of 27 years.

This appointment is significant, as it is rare for Indian political parties to promote women to such high offices. Gupta becomes the fourth female Chief Minister of Delhi and one of just two female Chief Ministers in India, alongside Mamata Banerjee from West Bengal.

Previously, Mamata Banerjee criticized the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, labeling it 'Mrityu Kumbh' (Death Kumbh) due to management issues, including stampedes and lack of facilities for the public.

Misa Bharti remarked, "Do not misinterpret my words. Mamata Banerjee's comments were aimed at the mismanagement that has led to numerous deaths during the stampede."

Moreover, Bharti raised her concerns regarding perceived inequalities in how attendees at the Maha Kumbh were treated.

"Reports suggest that businessmen, politicians, and celebrities received preferential treatment, while ordinary attendees faced neglect. This kind of discrimination is intolerable," Bharti stated.

Responding to Nitish Kumar's 'Pragati Yatra' and Tejashwi Yadav's 'Karyakarta Darshan Sah Samvad Yatra', Bharti differentiated between the two.

"Nitish Kumar is allegedly misusing public funds for his travels. His yatra seems devoid of genuine intent. In contrast, I commend Tejashwi Yadav for his initiative, as he actively connects with the public to share his vision for Bihar's development," she noted.
