New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) In a significant diplomatic move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim engaged in delegation-level discussions in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations in diverse sectors such as defence and security.

During the meeting, PM Ibrahim warmly welcomed PM Modi, expressing that, "We have covered several pressing issues that need our teams' attention."

He conveyed hope for increased collaboration, stating, "This visit holds great personal significance to me, and I look forward to our strengthened ties across all fields."

PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, stating, "You have organized this event exceptionally. This is a memory I will cherish... I truly appreciate the depth of our friendship. It's a privilege to visit Malaysia for the third time and meet you for the fourth during your tenure."

He praised the robust partnership between the two countries and expressed gratitude to PM Ibrahim for his cooperation.

The Prime Minister underscored the growing collaboration between India and Malaysia in areas such as agriculture, clean energy, defence, security, semiconductors, skill development, and capacity building.

He congratulated Malaysia on its successful ASEAN chairmanship, expressing optimism for further growth in their relationship.

Earlier, PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya.

This development was highlighted by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), which shared details of the welcome and the visit's broader significance in a post on X.

"Reaffirming the enduring bonds that connect India and Malaysia! PM Narendra Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Perdana Putra during his Official Visit to Malaysia. India shares close ties with Malaysia, anchored in civilizational, historical, and people-to-people connections. Comprehensive discussions aimed at further cementing our enduring friendship and robust bilateral relations are forthcoming," stated the MEA.

The ceremonial welcome marked the formal start of PM Modi's engagements in Malaysia, reflecting the importance both nations place on their bilateral relationship.

India and Malaysia enjoy deep-rooted ties shaped by centuries-old connections, shared history, cultural interactions, and a strong Indian diaspora in Malaysia.
