Jaipur, Aug 19 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the endorsement of the Greenfield Airport, emphasizing that this airport stands as a remarkable gift to the residents of the state from the Prime Minister.
"This development represents the 'Modi Cabinet's gift to Rajasthan'. Under PM Modi's guidance, Rajasthan is progressing towards a 'Developed Rajasthan' by 2047," stated the Chief Minister.
He conveyed his delight over the announcement and reiterated his gratitude to PM Modi.
Previously, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Modi, sanctioned the establishment of a Greenfield Airport in the Kota-Bundi area of Rajasthan.
This project, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 1,507 crore, is anticipated to be completed in a span of two years. This new airport will greatly improve air travel within the region, enhancing connectivity between Kota and Bundi and strengthening air links throughout the state.
Kota, recognized as a significant educational and industrial center, along with the adjacent Bundi area, is poised to gain immensely from this initiative.
The airport will cater to countless students, parents, and tourists who frequent the region annually. Moreover, the Hadoti area will also benefit from enhanced connectivity and economic prospects due to this development.
The facility will be constructed in Shambhupura village, situated 15 km from Kota and 20 km from Bundi.
Strategically located near NH-52 and the Kota-Deoli bypass, the airport will include a terminal spanning 20,000 square meters and a runway measuring 3,200 meters in length.
Upon becoming operational, it will have the capacity to accommodate 2 million passengers annually.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav mentioned that the Cabinet has approved the development of the Kota-Bundi Greenfield Airport at an estimated cost of Rs 1,507 crore.
"The location and design will ensure superb connectivity and future expansion," he asserted.
This ambitious initiative is set to enhance regional air connectivity, tourism, and local enterprises.
A pivotal step towards achieving this vision was the agreement signed in July 2024 between the Rajasthan government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
