During their conversation, PM Modi firmly condemned the infringement of Kuwait's sovereignty and its territorial integrity, expressing India's unwavering support for the Kuwaiti people during these trying times.
"Had a fruitful phone conversation with Crown Prince of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. India denounces the violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and territorial integrity, standing with its citizens in this challenging moment," PM Modi shared on X following the call.
He emphasized the vital role of dialogue and diplomacy in fostering regional peace and stability, commending the Kuwaiti leadership for their ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the Indian community residing in Kuwait.
In addition to Kuwait, PM Modi has also been in touch with leaders from the UAE, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar in the past two days, as India maintains communication with regional governments and key partners regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran and the Gulf.
Earlier, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the "violent Iranian attack" aimed at the US Embassy in Kuwait City.
"This assault represents a blatant violation of numerous international norms and laws, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1961 Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantee immunity to diplomatic premises and personnel, even during armed conflicts. The Ministry reiterates Kuwait's right to implement necessary measures to safeguard its security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents," the statement read.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait remains fully engaged in aiding Indian nationals stranded due to the temporary suspension of air travel. Embassy officials are in constant communication with these passengers, coordinating closely with Kuwaiti authorities, hotel managements, and airlines.
