On March 18, New Delhi (NationPress) witnessed a significant telephonic dialogue between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. The leaders addressed the shifting dynamics in West Asia and expressed mutual concerns regarding recent events.

During the conversation, PM Modi firmly condemned any actions threatening Kuwait's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He extended his gratitude to Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah for his unwavering support in safeguarding the Indian community residing in Kuwait.

“I had a discussion with HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Crown Prince, where I conveyed my best wishes for the upcoming Eid celebrations. Our dialogue included an exchange of perspectives on the evolving circumstances in West Asia, as well as concerns over recent developments. I reiterated India’s condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority,” PM Modi shared on X.

“We concurred that ongoing diplomatic engagement is crucial for maintaining regional peace and stability. I expressed my appreciation for his continued support regarding the safety and well-being of the Indian community in Kuwait,” he added.

This conversation occurred amidst escalating tensions in West Asia, triggered by US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, which resulted in the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking military officials. In retaliation, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting US and Israeli installations, as well as allied forces in the region.

In recent days, PM Modi has engaged with leaders from the UAE, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar to maintain India’s rapport with regional governments and key partners concerning the ongoing conflict in Iran and the Gulf.
