PM Modi and Oman Sultan Emphasize Diplomacy for West Asia Peace

New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephonic discussion with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman on Thursday, during which he reiterated India's strong condemnation of the recent infringements on Oman's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both leaders concurred on the necessity to emphasize dialogue and diplomacy to achieve de-escalation and restore peace and stability.

"I had a fruitful conversation with my esteemed brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and extended early Eid greetings to the people of Oman. We both recognized the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy for de-escalation and the eventual restoration of peace and stability," PM Modi posted on X following their call.
"I reiterated India's condemnation of the violations against Oman's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed gratitude for Oman’s efforts in ensuring the safe return of numerous individuals, including Indian nationals. Both India and Oman advocate for safe and unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz," he added.
This conversation occurred amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which intensified after the US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, resulting in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking military officials. In retaliation, Iran launched drone and missile assaults targeting US and Israeli facilities, as well as regional capitals and allied forces in West Asia.
In recent days, PM Modi has also communicated with leaders from Malaysia, France, Kuwait, the UAE, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar, as India maintains contact with governments in the region and other key partners regarding the ongoing situation in Iran and the Gulf.
On Wednesday, PM Modi spoke with Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah to discuss the evolving circumstances in West Asia and shared concerns regarding recent developments.
PM Modi reaffirmed India's condemnation of assaults on Kuwait's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed gratitude to Sheikh Sabah for the ongoing support and safety of the Indian community in Kuwait.
"I spoke with HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait, and conveyed greetings for the upcoming festival of Eid. We exchanged insights on the evolving situation in West Asia and shared concerns over recent developments. I reiterated India’s condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains our top priority," PM Modi posted on X.
"We concurred that sustained diplomatic engagement is vital for regional peace and stability. I thanked him for his continued support regarding the safety and welfare of the Indian community in Kuwait," he concluded.
