Jammu, Feb 7 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a review meeting on Saturday in Jammu to evaluate the advancement of development initiatives in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
During this session, Home Minister Shah conducted an in-depth assessment of critical areas, such as road infrastructure, power, industry, tourism, and 4G and optical fiber connectivity.
Attending the meeting were Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Union Home Secretary, along with senior officials from both the Central government and the government of Jammu and Kashmir.

He highlighted that, due to the ongoing and committed endeavors of the PM Modi-led government, development projects in Jammu and Kashmir have achieved remarkable progress.
Shah emphasized the need for Jammu and Kashmir to fully leverage its hydropower potential and stressed that achieving 100 percent saturation of government welfare schemes is essential to ensure that all benefits from development initiatives reach the target populations.
He remarked on the sustained interest of tourists from across the nation in visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah pointed out the necessity for vigorous promotion of Jammu and Kashmir’s tourist attractions in other states to optimally tap into the tourism potential of the region.
He assured that the Indian government would extend every possible support in efforts to cultivate new tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Union Minister noted that priority should be given to enhancing sports infrastructure and establishing sports academies to engage youth in development.
To this end, initiatives will be taken to draw investments totaling approximately Rs 200 crore by collaborating with various sports organizations.
Additionally, Home Minister Shah advocated for promoting the dairy sector in Jammu and Kashmir through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
In a groundbreaking move, Jammu and Kashmir has now been included under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme for the first time in FY 2025–26, granting access to 50-year interest-free loans for capital projects.
The Home Minister underscored that enhanced fiscal discipline would aid in stabilizing the Union Territory’s fiscal deficit over time.
He reiterated that India is steadily advancing towards the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, coinciding with the centenary of independence, and that the Government of India will persist in offering full support to Jammu and Kashmir in the pursuit of this aim.
