This will be their first collaborative event at the RSS headquarters.
During his visit, PM Modi will also pay respects at Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh in honor of Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of RSS, on his birth anniversary.
This marks a historic occasion as it is the first time a sitting Prime Minister is visiting the Sangh headquarters in Nagpur’s Reshimbagh, where he will also lay the foundation stone for the extension of a hospital.
The meeting follows a period of speculation regarding tensions in the relationship between the Sangh and the BJP leadership.
Political analysts view this forthcoming engagement as significant due to its timing, location, and the purpose of the Prime Minister's visit.
This event coincides with the BJP's preparations to elect a new national president, anticipated by the first week of April.
The saffron party is expected to hold a national council meeting in Bengaluru on April 18 to endorse the election of the new president.
Historically, the RSS has played a pivotal role in selecting the party chief.
The significance of this meeting is further amplified as it occurs in Nagpur, the headquarters of the Sangh, and honors Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar, fondly referred to as 'Guru ji' by many Sangh swayamsevaks and supporters.
PM Modi will also participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for Madhav Netralaya, a cutting-edge eye hospital and research facility, coinciding with Gudi Padwa, the Marathi New Year.
The last personal meeting between PM Modi and Mohan Bhagwat took place on May 10, 2014, in Delhi, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
They were scheduled to reunite on April 27, 2023, for the inauguration of the National Cancer Institute and the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s cultural center in Koradi, just 15 kilometers from Nagpur, but PM Modi's visit was canceled due to the Karnataka Assembly elections.
At the Sunday event, PM Modi and Mohan Bhagwat will be joined on stage by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Acharya Govind Giri Maharaj, Avadheshanand Maharaj, and Nagpur's Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
PM Modi's visit coincides with the upcoming preparations for the RSS centenary celebrations, which will commence on Vijayadashmi this October.

PM Modi’s visit to Nagpur follows shortly after the Bengaluru meeting of the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, the highest decision-making and policy-formulating body of the organization, which passed a resolution expressing concerns over "Hindu persecution in Bangladesh".
