New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Sunday that Delhi is poised for a 'Naya Basant' (New spring) of development following the forthcoming Assembly elections, likening it to the seasonal transformation heralded by Basant Panchami.
Speaking to a large gathering in R.K. Puram, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes for Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja.
Referring to R.K. Puram as a genuine embodiment of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat', he emphasized the community's diversity, noting that many residents are government employees from across the nation.
“As Basant Panchami marks the onset of a new season, February 5 will usher in a 'Naya Basant' for Delhi. This time, we will witness the formation of a BJP government in the city. The entire populace is rallying behind, chanting 'Abki Baar, Modi Sarkar'!” PM Modi proclaimed amidst the crowd's enthusiastic cheers.
In a pointed critique of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), PM Modi charged that it has tarnished Delhi over the past eleven years.
“The AAPda party has squandered invaluable time for Delhi. I urge every household to grant us the opportunity to serve. I assure you that I will strive relentlessly to address your challenges. The double-engine government will enhance the lives of all, regardless of their socioeconomic status,” he stated.
Targeting AAP's leaders, he remarked, “You have already entrusted a strong government to the nation. Do not, even by mistake, allow the AAP-da government, which has devastated Delhi, to regain power.”
PM Modi also ridiculed AAP's election symbol, quipping, “Even before the polls, the broom (Jhaadu) is falling apart. Their leaders are abandoning ship as they recognize the public's discontent. AAPda is so rattled that they are issuing false promises every hour.”
Amid chants of 'Jhoot Nahi Sahenge', PM Modi contrasted BJP's governance with that of AAP.
“On one side, you have AAPda's empty assurances, and on the other, Modi's commitment. Modi's promise signifies 100 percent fulfillment. Everything I pledge, I deliver,” he affirmed.
He cited the recent Union Budget as evidence of his administration's dedication to the populace. “The four pillars of a Viksit Bharat -- Gareeb, Kisaan, Naujawan, and Naari Shakti -- are prioritized in this budget. Over the years, we have provided free food, healthcare, and permanent housing to those in need.”
Discussing India's economic progress, PM Modi remarked, “India is now the fifth-largest economy globally. This signifies rising incomes. Previously, these funds may have vanished in scams, but today, an honest BJP government is utilizing them for citizen welfare.”
He pointed out that the budget will reduce costs for essential goods like clothing, footwear, televisions, and mobile devices, bolstering the 'Make in India' initiative.
“Our middle class is vital to development, and BJP is the only party that genuinely values them. This budget is being hailed as the most middle-class-friendly budget to date,” he declared.
Expanding on tax reforms, he reminisced about the burdens of previous administrations. “In the past, just the announcement of a budget would create anxiety for the middle class. But this year, the budget has brought joy to every Indian household. Now, earnings up to Rs 12 lakh per year are tax-exempt, resulting in substantial savings for the middle class.”
Comparing current tax regulations with those of previous Congress governments, he said, “During Nehru's era, if you earned Rs 12 lakh annually, one-fourth was deducted as tax. Under Indira Gandhi’s leadership, it’s shocking to know that nearly Rs 10 lakh out of Rs 12 lakh was taken in taxes. This was their reality.”
He further revealed that income between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 24 lakh will now face significantly lower tax rates, saving individuals Rs 1.1 lakh annually in that range.
Addressing senior citizens, he promised further benefits: “Millions of elderly individuals will benefit from this budget. Retired government workers will experience lower taxes and enhanced pensions. Once BJP takes charge in Delhi, we will implement a pension of Rs 2,500 for senior citizens and extend free medical care up to Rs 5 lakh.”
During the rally, PM Modi had a touching moment with a young girl in the audience who presented him with a drawing. He promised to write to her, sharing this emotional episode with the crowd.
