During his heartfelt tribute to Modi on the significant occasion of Guru Purnima, Saha stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is my sole inspiration for joining the BJP and active politics. If anyone inquires about my political guru, I will confidently respond that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He further expressed, “I entered the political arena by observing him. On this remarkable day, I seek his blessings.”
On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Saha, a dental surgeon-turned-politician, also conveyed his utmost respect to his teachers and professors from his academic journey.
“Every teacher and mentor who has played a vital role in shaping an individual's educational path deserves to be regarded as a Guru,” he added.
Highlighting the enduring tradition of the guru-disciple relationship in Indian culture, the Chief Minister shared that he personally visited the homes of his teachers on Thursday to seek their blessings.
“I continue to stay in touch with the educators who have motivated me to work hard and refined my character both as a human and a student,” he remarked.
Saha also noted that he recently checked in with one of his teachers based in Bengaluru.
Following a visit to the residence of a distinguished educator, Saha shared on his social media: “On Guru Purnima, I was privileged to visit Dr. Jagadish Gan Chowdhury, one of Tripura’s foremost educationists, at his Ker Chowmuhani home and received his gracious blessings.”
Saha, previously a supporter of the Congress party, transitioned to the BJP in 2016, became the state president in 2020, and assumed the role of Chief Minister in May 2022 after the former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb stepped down on the guidance of central leaders.
In the 2023 assembly elections, the BJP-Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) alliance secured a second consecutive term under Saha's leadership, winning 32 seats in the 60-member assembly while the IPFT obtained one seat.
With 13 MLAs, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), led by former royal heir Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, joined the BJP-led coalition government in March last year. In conclusion, the Chief Minister extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion of Guru Purnima.
