Will PM Modi Inaugurate Five Revamped Railway Stations in Vadodara Division on May 22?

Ahmedabad, May 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to virtually inaugurate five newly redeveloped railway stations in the Western Railway’s Vadodara division on May 22.

The stations—Dakor, Karamsad, Derol, Kosamba, and Utran—are part of a national initiative under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), aimed at transforming over 1,300 railway stations into modern transit hubs. Initiated two years ago, the ABSS emphasizes enhancing passenger experience through state-of-the-art facilities, improved accessibility, and architectural designs that highlight local heritage and culture.

The five stations set to be unveiled have been redeveloped with a focus on sustainability, regional identity, and user convenience.

Dakor Station, a vital stop for pilgrims visiting the Shree Ranchhodrai Temple, now boasts eco-friendly structures and amenities specifically designed for religious tourism. Karamsad Station commemorates the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with a uniquely designed art wall and dedicated commemorative space.

Derol Station features temple-style architecture that mirrors the spiritual atmosphere of the nearby Pavagadh pilgrimage site. Utran Station, situated near the rapidly developing Surat metro area, has been upgraded to cater to the needs of daily urban commuters with a sleek and accessible design.

Vadodara plays an essential role in India’s western railway network. Located on the bustling New Delhi-Mumbai corridor, it falls under the Western Railway zone and serves as the headquarters for the Vadodara division. The station manages over 150 trains daily, connecting major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Howrah, making it one of the busiest junctions in western India.

Vadodara’s railway infrastructure includes multiple platforms, electrified tracks, and advanced signalling systems, enabling smooth operations for both passenger and freight trains. The Vadodara division spans several districts, including Anand, Bharuch, Narmada, and parts of Surat, managing over 4,400 kilometres of route length and several key stations—like Bharuch, Anand, Godhra, and Chhayapuri—serving urban and rural areas alike.

This division is crucial for transporting industrial goods including chemicals, fertilizers, textiles, and petroleum, especially from the industrial hubs of Bharuch and Ankleshwar. Ongoing development initiatives under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and other modernization efforts are poised to further enhance the division’s capacity, commuter experience, and operational efficiency.
